One of life's little mysteries ... Mystery surrounds the inclusion of these two miniature, b&w, photographs (enhanced here) found among the papers of Henry James Drew-Smythe. No other, seemingly "non-family", photographs were discovered in the collection. Left: "Robin Rising" Right: "Milford Lake House Highclere Newbury - Mrs. S. Rising" Some initial research has ascertained that Robin Rising is wearing what is probably a Pangbourne College (Naval Independent Secondary School, UK) uniform. Pangbourne is in Berkshire. Now divided accommodation, Milford Lake House (Lake House) is on the Berkshire/Hampshire border, a few miles south of Newbury. It is currently unknown what the connection was between the house and the Rising family noted here.

By comparison with other samples, the handwriting on both "snaps" is typical of HJDS - but the initial scripts on the reverse of each picture - "Robin" and "Milford Lake House" - are in the hand of another.
