Szarka Duo
acrobalance act history
 |
Lisa Thomas
Born in Salisbury England, Lisa has been a dancer and
performer along with other members of her family since
their arrival in the United States in the summer of
1982. Almost as tall as 6ft Robert, her long willowy
form lends a spectacular quality to their acrobalance
act, as most 'balancees' tend to be much smaller than
the 'balancer' , with good reason :) Also for many
segments of the act Lisa is actually the one supporting
and balancing her 6' ft tall 185 pound partner! |

Robert Szarka
Take an Aussie born in Sydney Australia from Hungarian
lineage who grew up in the exotic Bahamas, where his
parents worked as an adagio act, and his father managed
a number of the Paradise Island Casino's Cabaret Theater
spectaculars for producer/director Tibor Rudas, and
you've got Robert Szarka the other half of The Szarka
Duo acrobalance act. A sort of a Kangaroo-gulash laced
with coconut milk? Hey, don't knock it til...:)
He began performing as a teenager in the Club Med shows
on Paradise Island, then tumbled his way into the Famous
Rudas Acrodance team in The Cabaret Theater. A show
based on illusions, he often played with the tiger cub
Cheyenne before working with him on stage, where the cub
grew into the magnificent animal that is immortalized in
this archive. It was the feline fellow performers Tina
the leopard, tiger Cheyenne and Kahn the lion that
brought him to the United States to work in a circus. |

| For a few years Robert worked with a solo
handbalancing act which featured two revolutions in a one hand
stand, building blocks in a one hand plange finishing at a
height of 17ft in the air. Ending the act with up to thirty
jumps on a one arm pogo stick. Then Lisa pirouetted into his
orbit and he decided to carry on the family inclination to
elevate their ladies or throw them about in an acrobalance act. |
