Beverley was selected as one of the 34 finalists from 362 entries for this prestigious photography prize, with the image Habitat #3. The judging panel for the Prize were: Jason Smith (Director, Monash Gallery of Art), Tony Ellwood (Director, Queensland Art Gallery, GOMA) and Rosemary Laing (artist).
Beastly

A group show, curated by Nana Ohnesorge, with works Del Kathryn Barton, Leslie Rice, Joan Ross, Anna Pogossova and Beverley Veasey, that explored the dark heart and primal instincts of human nature. The image contributed by Beverley was Study of a White Rhinoceros Cretatherium simum (from the Natural History #2 series).
Habitats
Stills Gallery, Paddington, NSW

This series of work depicts a number of empty animals enclosures found in zoos and aquariums around the world. The Habitats spaces are vacant, leaving the viewer to ponder what animal may reside there. As more and more of the earths natural resources are destroyed, artificial spaces such as the ones depicted may be the only way in the future we can encounter other species that are under threat in the wild.

For Every Bird

Beverley was once again selected as a finalist in this acquisitive art award. The image selected, Study of a shark (2007), is from the Natural History #2 series. The Award was judged by Martyn Jolly, Head of Photomedia at ANU.
Pet Project
Australian Centre for Photography, Paddington NSW

An exhibition of international and Australian photo-media art, including studio portraits, staged tableaux, candid documentary, installation and video art. The 'Pet project' explores the visual representation of companion animals. Beverley's image was 2 meter high banner print of the family dog - a golden retriever named Nelson.
Art for Action: Changing Nature 2006
The Gallery at Darling Park, Sydney
13 November to 1 December 2006.
Greenpeace invited submissions from artists to explore the changes being imposed upon the global and local environment as a consequence of climate change and technology. Beverley submitted a work of a loggerhead turtle floating in an artificial space. Loggerhead turtles are listed as an endangered species, having declined in numbers by 70-90%. Queensland is the only major breeding and nesting area of the loggerhead turtles in the southwest Pacific Ocean region.

This national biennial award for the visual arts showcased the work of 30 of Australia's foremost creative practioners working in photographic media. The image selected for this exhibition is an extension of the Natural History series, featuring a juvenile black swan.
Art and About 2006: Sydney Life

Beverley was selected as one of the finalists for this annual photography prize, sponsored by AMP Capital Investors in conjuction with the City of Sydney. Now in its fifth year, this open-air exhibition presented the selected images on large-scale canvases along the central walkway of Hyde Park, Sydney.
The Betty Quelhurst Gift
QUT Art Museum, QLD

Three images from the Natural History series were purchased by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Art Museum with the assistance of The Betty Quelhurst Gift. The images purchased were Study of a lion: Panthera leo, Study of a calf: Bos taurus and Study of a swan: Cygnus bewikii. These images can also be viewed in the Gallery section (Natural History).
This was the first of a series of three annual exhibitions that feature selected works purchased with the Betty Quelhurst Gift. Further information can be found at the QUT Art Museum web site.

This collection of ten images explores the disengagement of modern urban societies from the natural world. Our experience with other animal species is often limited to zoos or museums. The subtle tonal qualities of these images softens the harsh reality of a Natural History in a constructed world. The images can also be viewed in the Gallery section (Natural History).
This project was supported by a grant from the New South Wales Government - Ministry for the Arts, through a program administered by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).
'The Harries'

Beverley was selected as a finalist in this Award for the second year running. The work titled "DNA Shadow Portrait: Rebecca" depicts a portrait as a fusion of the old and the new; of a profile silhouette and the sequence of DNA base pairs that is our genetic code. The image can be viewed in the Gallery section (Portraits).

Beverley was selected as a finalist for this Award for the third time. The image selected, "Study of a pig: Sus scrofa domesticus" (2006) is one of the images from the Natural History series (the full series will be exhibited at Stills Gallery; see above). The image can be viewed in the Gallery section (Natural History).

Beverley's new image "Study of a goat: Capra hircus" was selected for exhibition in this Award Show. This new work forms part of the Natural History series and was also selected for the National Photographic Purchase Award in Albury earlier this year. Beverley was a part of the Friends of the National Art School (FONAS) team that curated a display at this art fair. Beverley exhibited some of her own work and contributed to a panel discussion on "What makes photography collectable".
