THE blartermusic STUDIO

The blartermusic studio located in an old horse stable in Glebe (see address on the main page). It is a compact digital studio, which uses the grunt of a Macintosh PowerPC G3 mini tower to run 32 digital stereo audio tracks in Logic Audio. It mixes on a fully automated Yamaha digital mixing console (the O1v), and is equipped to lock to picture.

The studio outputs audio to DAT, Audio CD, Audio cassette & VHS. Audio data files can be output on Mac or PC format CD-ROM's, Zip disks, floppy disks, or despatched direct via ftp or email. We support AIF Files (.aif), Windows Wave Files (.wav), Mpeg 3 Files (.mp3), Sound Designer files,.(sd2), Quicktime Movie Files (.mov or .qt), Real Audio Files (.ra) or Sun Audio files (.au). See the Multi Media link on the left for more info.

On request we have Digital Betacam and Time Coded DAT facilities.

Most of the composition is done using sounds from samplers and synth modules made by Akai, Korg and Ensoniq. Live instruments such as bass, guitar, brass, percussion, even tap dancing (see "Move Your Sweet Feet" on the TV1 page) are recorded in the booth.

THE TARDIS

The recording booth is an ex ABC outside broadcast demountable booth, known as "The Tardis". Sadly it does not use an anomily in the space time continuum to make it infinitely large on the inside, but small on the outside. Visual communication between The Tardis and The Bridge is maintained by dual CCTV circuits. Each room has two monitors, one to see the other room, one to see pictures if the talent is working to vision.

THE BRIDGE

The control room has lots of buttons and knobs, LCD displays, flashing lights, and rolling numbers. If you put together all the letters that are used in the names of all the bits of equipment (i.e. Yamaha O1v, Tascam DA20 mkII, Caroma 6 litre pan S white, Leyland P-76 Targa Florio etc. etc) they spell "BLARTER MUSIC DOES REAL GOOD STUFF - 95184713 0414669850" backwards. Come in here, do a session and try it for yourself.
