Targets: 1 creature/level in a 40 ft burst centered on you

As circle of death, except as noted above, and you can affect creatures with up to 5 HD less than your caster level. In addition, every creature you kill with this spell that has an Intelligence score of 3 or higher grants you 5 temporary hit points. These temporary hit points disappear after 10 minutes.

Material component: 500 gp worth of nightshade.

Wall of Tentacles

Range: Medium (100 ft + 10 ft/level)

Effect: Wall of tentacles whose area is up to one 5 ft square/level (S)

Spell Resistance: No

You call into existence a wall of pitch black darkness. The wall blocks line of effect and line of sight, but only in one direction; it is translucent and transparent to spell effects and physical attacks in the other direction. Tentacles lash out from the wall and automatically grapple any creature that approaches within 10 feet, except for those designated by you. You may designate creatures that will be ignored by the wall of tentacles according to alignment, race, or the visible presence of a specific item or feature, such as a badge or tattoo. Such creatures can pass through the wall without impediment.

The wall’s grapple check bonus is equal to your caster level +14. A successful grapple inflicts 3d6 points of damage on the grappled creature. Further, any creature grappled for 3 consecutive rounds must make a Reflex save or be dragged into the wall, where it automatically takes 5d6 points of damage each round.

The wall is immune to all types of damage, although a disintegrate stops it grappling for one round (and causes it to release any creatures held or dragged into it). It cannot be dispelled, but a break enchantment or limited wish will destroy it.
