SHOW: Rings 302
Title: Ring.
General: This Ring is made in 18 Karat white and yellow gold, and is
set with an Argyle Pink Diamond.
Material: White Gold.Yellow Gold.
Gem: Pink Arfyle Diamond, Marquise cut.
Method: Cast.
Finish: Polished.
Mechanics: Carved. Because the diamond is a light pink, the area below it is
clad in Yellow Gold, as this adds a slight richness to the colour
reflected in the diamond.
Designer: W.van Heeckeren.

CASTING is a method by which molten metal is poured into a mould
in order to achieve the desired shape. In the "Lost
Wax" method, an accurate wax model is made. The wax
model is invested (put in a chrystobalite plaster),
after the investment has set, the wax is burned out in
a Kiln. This leaves a negative cavity into which the
molten metal may be poured.
