Lieutenant of Fife; J.P. Fife and D.L. and J.P. Caithness; hon LL.D, St. Andrew's; served in Egyptian Expedition 1882 (medal with clasp, bronze star); in Bechuanaland Expedition 1884-85 and in World War 1. Legion of Honour. m. 1886 Mildred Harriet Hussey C.B.E. (1918) (d. 1952) daughter of Edward Hussey of Scotney Castle, Kent.

2. Magdalen Janet Anstruther 1889-1953 m.1911 Sir Thomas Wilfred Hargreaves John Erskine D.S.O. 4th Bt. (d. 1944).

3. Capt. Robert Edward Anstruther, 1890 - 1921 m.1919 Marguerite (Madge) de Burgh only daughter of Hugo de Burgh, of Ballinapierce, County Wexford, Ireland. The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). Served in World War 1 from 1914-1919; (temp. Colonel); twice wounded; (despatches) M.C. Crx.deGu. (palms) - He died from the effects of wounds received during World War 1.

4. Sarah Katherine Anstruther 1894-1952. J.P. (1943, Fife). She was not married.

5. Elizabeth Mildred Louisa Anstruther 1896 - 1932 - m. 1920 Major Julian Neil Oscar Rycroft , D.S.O., M.C. (1892 - 1928), only son of Major-General Sir William Henry Rycroft, K.C.B., K.C.M.O. There were children of the marriage.

6. Gertrude Mary Anstruther 1900 - 1975 M.A. (Edinburgh 1924) Headmistress of St. James's School, West Malvern (1948 - 1960). Assistant Professor of English, Hood College, Maryland U.S.A. (1961-1962) and Coffey College, Nevada (1962-1964). She was not married.

4. Rear Admiral Robert Hamilton Anstruther, C.M.G. 1862 - 1938 - C.M.G. (1907) Admiral (retd.); was senior Naval Officer on the Danube (1900-1902; North Sea Fisheries 1902-1904 and Newfoundland Fisheries 1906-1908. Commander, Hong Kong 1912. Senior Officer on the coast of China 1914-1916; had 2nd. class Order of the Rising Sun of Japan. m. 1890 Edith Flora Felton Peel (d. 1944) daughter of William Felton Peel.

Their Son - Philip Noel Anstruther, D.S.O. (1916) M.C. - (1891-1960).

P. N. Anstruther (D.S.O., L.G. 20.10.16): born 2.9.1891; educ. Sherborne School and R.M.C. Sandhurst; 2nd. Lieut., Unatt., 18.1.1911; 2nd. Lt. I.A., 18.4.13; R.W. Kent R. 16.8.13; Adjt., 7th (S.) Bn.; Capt., R.W. Kent R., 27.3.15, serving with his regiment throughout the war; Despatches twice; M.C. His D.S.O. was awarded for services 13-14 July, 1916, Trônes Wood. Later - Colonel Commanding, 1st Btn. Kent Regiment; Staff-Captain, Malta (1928) and Brig-Major Canal Brig. (wounded); Skipper, Admiralty Ferry Service (1943-1944). He married firstly (1920) Mary Hope Lewin (d. 1963) elder daughter of Harold Chaloner Lewin of Bromley, Kent.

Marriage dissolved 1931.

1. Jean Mary Anstruther (1921- ) married (1951) Flight-Lieutenant Robert Owen (Robin) Blackall, R.A.F., son of Norman Blackall of Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire . He was killed on air/sea exercises over the North Sea in 1952. 2. Robert Lewin Anstruther, F.R.I.C.S. (1924 - ) served in World War 2; Flight-Lieutenant R.A.F.V.R.. He married (1950) Rosemary Natalie Williamson - only daughter of Commander E.G. (Guy) Ernest Williamson, M.B.E of Bickley, Kent.

Philip Noel Anstruther married secondly (1937) Mrs. Mary Were, daughter of Edwin Edwards of Matamata, N.Z. By her former marriage she had a son, Val Were. Marriage dissolved 1951. He married thirdly (1952) Marion Frances (Bunty) Macgregor, (formerly wife of Philip Charles Secretan) the daughter of Capt. Ivor Macgregor, D.S.C., R.N.R..
5. Arthur Wellesley Anstruther, C.B. 1864 - 1938. Private Secretary to the President of the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries (1892 - 1898); Chief Clerk to the Board (1898-1902) and Assistant Secretary (1902-1920). Captain, Fife Art. Militia. - m1 1893 Hon. Mary Elma Cumming-Bruce (d. 1894), daughter of 5th Baron Thurloe. - m2 1901 (Louisa Adele) Rose Trapman (ca.1868-1962), daughter of William Hume Trapman of Charlestown, Carolina, U.S.A.
