David Smyth writes: "This is most probably our branch of the Hawksworths, because a lot of generations coincide with my Hawksworth family tree from the 1200s onward. She seems to have been born about the right time. The relationships are rather involved, but I think Sir Richard Hawksworth may have been her uncle, and Peter Hawksworth her father. Sir Richard is at Generation 16 on my Hawksworth family tree and this Richard Hawksworth is at Generation 14."

(March 2003) The following pedigree is the result of the dedicated research of Marian Melozzi, who died at the turn of this century at the young age of 53. Her cousin and also a keen family researcher, Gary Hoxworth - who carries some of her information - explains two of her main sources.

Ralph Smyth (d. 1689) - of Ballymacash, Co. Antrim. (High Sheriff, 1680) Captain Ralph Smyth (the Tanner) was the progenitor of the Irish Smyth/e lines treated on this site. He married, in 1643, Alice or Elizabeth Hawksworth - the daughter of either Peter Hawksworth (which seems more probable now (2003) in light of the above) or - as originally thought - Sir Richard Hawksworth of Hawksworth Hall, Yorkshire.
