If Harrison's charts
are accurate then it is probable that Jane Layton
was a daughter of this marriage. Her future husband, Thomas
Smyth, was born in about 1520 and their son,
Thomas Smyth, was born in 1550. The latter married
Margaret Lightfoot of West Clayton. In view of a future
Smyth/Lascelles marriage, this would
seem quite feasible. See also de Burgh
