Michael Anthony

Van Halen Bass guitarist. Need I say more? Also a founding member of the supergroup 'Planet Us' of which Joe is a member.
|
Nuno Bettencourt

Joe played alongside Nuno Bettencourt at the 'Guitar Legends' concert in Seville, Spain in 1992. Nuno is perhaps most known for being the lead guitarist from the successful 1990's rock band Extreme. He also has an Australian connection; he is married to one time 'Baby Animals' lead singer and now solo artist Suze Demarchi. |
Gregg Bissonette

Gregg Bissonette is arguably the best session drummer around today. Gregg's most notable collaboration with Joe would be 1992's 'The Extremist' that Gregg played drums on, with his brother Matt on Bass guitar. Gregg also toured with Joe and Matt on the Extremist tour.
|
Matt Bissonette

Matt Bissonette first worked with Joe, and his brother Gregg on Joe's 1992 album The Extremist. He then toured with Joe on The Extremist Tour and has more recently recorded with Joe on his 'Strange Beautiful Music' and also 'Is There Love In Space?' and has toured with Joe on those tours and the 2004 US/European G3 tour. |
Joe Bonamassa

Joe Bonamassa is a New York native living in LA. He is one of the hottest blues players around today. By the age of 11 he had opened for BB King no less than 20 times on one of his tours and has been getting rave reviews and dumbfounded audiences since. Go check him out. Joe invited Joe (that's not confusing) up on stage for a jam during one of his performances in 2006. Check him out at www.jbonamassa.com |
Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi are a five-piece band out of New Jersey that have been around since 1983. They have recorded some great albums. My two favourites are 'Crossroads' and 'These Days'.
Joe played as a guest for Bon Jovi at a Christmas time concert at the Orpheum Theater, Boston, MA, December 8, 1994.
|
Jeff Campitelli

Since the early, 1980's, Jeff Campitelli has been associated musically with Joe Satriani. Their band in the 80's, 'The Squares' is what started them on the musical path they find themselves on today. A master of the 5/4 Drum timing, Jeff has been recording and touring with Joe for many years. Notable examples of his skill include 'Satch Boogie' and 'Devil's Slide'. That famous jar of warm water has been keeping Jeff on top of his game for many years! |
Jerry Cantrell

Joe performed with a number of musicians at the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert on February 26th 2004 at the Warfield in San Francisco, including ex Alice In Chains member, Jerry Cantrell. |
Deen Castronovo

Journey Drummer. Also a founding member of the supergroup 'Planet Us' of which Joe is a member. |
Gary Cherone

Like Nuno Bettencourt, Gary was a member of the 1990's rock band 'Extreme' as lead singer. Having great success with this band, more recently, Gary secured the high-pressure role as Van Halen's lead singer, replacing long-running front man Sammy Hagar. Having completed their first and only album together (VH3), he toured with Van Halen through 1998-2000. Gary lent his vocals at the 'Guitar Legends' concert in Seville, Spain in 1992. |
Alice Cooper

Joe was invited into the studio by Alice to be the lead guitarist for 5 tracks off Alice's 1991 Album 'Hey Stoopid'. |
Billy Cox
Joe performed with a number of musicians at the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert on February 26th 2004 at the Warfield in San Francisco, including member of Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys, Billy Cox |
Crowded House
As it turns out, Joe was hired by successful Australian band Crowded House to sing backing vocals on their debut record. |
Deep Purple

Having completed the very successful Extremist Tour in 1994, Joe turned his attention to a new challenge; being lead guitarist to UK rock super-group Deep Purple. His tenure with the band was reasonably short lived. |
Nathan East

Nathan East has built an extremely successful career for himself as a fantastic session Bass player. He has also been a main stay of Eric Clapton's touring band and has more recently contributed to Clapton's latest album, 'Reptile'.
Nathan provided his services on Joe's self-titled 1995 blues album. |
Andy Fairweather Low

The Clapton influence goes a bit deeper still. Coming along to help out his buddy Nathan East, another Eric Clapton touring band regular (since 1992) was Andy Fairweather Low. Among other greats that Andy has worked with are George Harrison and Van Morrison. More recently he played on the new Linda Ronstadt album. Andy supplied his great rhythm guitar skills on Joe's self-titled 1995 blues album. |
Marty Freidman

Appeared on stage with Joe, Steve and John Petrucci in 2005 during G3's visit to Tokyo.
|
Robert Fripp

Fripp does a lot of different things with his guitars. He plays in bands, he does improvised solo looping work he calls Soundscapes, and in the mid 80s-early 90s led an acoustic guitar ensemble called The League of Crafty Guitarists. He is also the instigator of Guitar Craft Seminars.
Robert opened for the original G3 tour starting back in 1996 and has collaborated with Joe on one of the tunes of Joe's Strange Beautiful Music CD 'Sleep Walk'. He joined Joe and Steve in Europe for the 2004 G3 Tour. |
Billy Gibbons
Legendary ZZ Top guitarist and one of Joe's top three influences. Appeared on stage with Joe at a Houston gig in recent years. |
Buddy Guy
Joe performed with a number of musicians at the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert on February 26th 2004 at the Warfield in San Francisco, including blues legend Mr. Buddy Guy |
Sammy Hagar

Lead singer of Montrose, Van Halen and Sammy Hagar and the Waboritas, Sammy Hagar just has one of those great rock voices. Arguably the world's oldest teenager, this guy rocks. Founding member of the supergroup 'Planet Us' of which Joe is a member.
|
Stuart Hamm

Stuart Hamm is arguably the greatest Jazz/Rock/Classical Bass Guitarist on the planet. He is in fact more at home and a bigger fan of Jazz and Classical styles than Rock. Is it any wonder Joe has had Stu recording and touring with him for so many years?!
I saw Stu in action in 1996 on the Joe Satriani tour in Sydney and I am not kidding when I say that he just about nearly stole the show with his solo spot. The US National Anthem, the Peanuts Theme, Beethoven and everything else got interpreted in style and very rapid eight-fingered handfuls of fun!
The guy is a genius |
Mick Jagger

Joe was invited by Mick Jagger to join him on his 1990's solo tour of the US and Japan. Joe obliged. |
Eric Johnson

Eric Johnson was brought to my attention through G3.
He is one of the finest guitarists I have ever heard. Some of his recordings including 'Cliffs Of Dover', 'Zap', 'SRV', 'Trademark' and 'Manhattan', are EJ classics.
He is best known for his impeccable tone and brilliant Texan speed. He is also one of the most versatile guitarists I have seen, just as comfortable with an acoustic. 'Song For George' and 'Desert Song' show his other classical and technical styles.
As you know, EJ starred alongside Joe and Steve Vai in G3. |
Manu Katche

Manu Katche has been a long time drummer in Sting's band. Together with Nathan East and Andy Fairweather Low, he rounded out the band assembled to record Joe's 1995 self-titled blues album. |
Pat Martino

Pat Martino is a very successful jazz guitarist who has been applying his trade for decades. Having a great sense of jazz timing and improvisation, Pat invited another jazz-trained guitarist (Joe) to perform on two tracks on his 1997 album 'All Sides Now'. The tracks are called 'Ellipsis' and 'Both Sides Now'. |
Dave Meniketti

Joe joined Dave onstage at the 2002 California Music Awards as Joe accepted the award for 'Outstanding Guitarist' |
Mitch Mitchell
Joe performed with a number of musicians at the Jimi Hendrix Tribute Concert on February 26th 2004 at the Warfield in San Francisco, including member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, drummer Mitch Mitchell |
Steve Morse

Legendary guitarist and Deep Purple member Steve Morse dropped by to lend a hand during the G3 tour of 2001. |
Jonathan Mover

Jonathan Mover should be familiar to many Satriani fans. He has been a very regular touring drummer with Joe, especially throughout the eighties and early to mid 1990's. I saw him drum with Joe, Jeff and Stu on their 1995 Joe Satriani tour of Australia. |
Brian May

This guy needs no introduction. Brian was the lead guitarist of 70's and 80's British super-group 'Queen'. He has more recently continued to forge a strong following with his solo career. Joe played with Brian at the 'Guitar Legends' concert in Seville, Spain in 1992, which Brian hosted. More recently, Joe enlisted him to join himself and Steve Vai on some of the European shows for the second incarnation of the G3 tour. |
Ronnie Montrose

A Californian resident, Ronnie Montrose is perhaps most notably remembered for his contribution as lead guitarist in the 70's rock band 'Montrose' and more recently as solo performer. Joe invited Ronnie to help perform at the California Music Awards held at the Henry J. Kaiser in Oakland, CA in 2002. |
Particle

Particle is an instrumental four piece jam-style band from L.A.
Joe was invited to join them on stage to play a song called 'W'. Joe returned for the final song of the night 'Superstition'. The gig was filmed for Particle's first concert DVD 'Transformations' at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood on February 24, 2006. |
John Petrucci

John Petrucci has been the lead guitarist for rock band 'Dream Theatre' for a number of years now. Joe invited John to be the third player on the latest (2002) leg of the fabled G3 tour alongside Steve Vai. John is incidentally one of Joe's former students. |
Paul Rodgers

Having had a successful time as lead singer of bands such as Free & Bad Company, Paul has more recently continued on his singing way as a solo artist. Paul was one of the singers, along with Gary Cherone of 'Extreme' to lend his vocal chords to the 1992 'Guitar Legends' concert in Seville, Spain. Ironically, he sung the Hendrix classic 'Hey Joe', lead by none other than Joe on lead guitar. |
Neal Schon

Joe shared the stage with 'Journey' guitarist Neal Schon at Bone Bash III at the Concord Pavilion on the 2nd November 2002. Also a founding member of the supergroup 'Planet Us' of which Joe is a member. |
Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Kenny Wayne Shepherd stormed onto the scene in the mid-90's with his debut album 'Ledbetter Heights'. He followed this up with 'Trouble Is' and more recently with his latest offering 'Live On'. I was fortunate enough to be in the front row (left stage) to see KWS live in Sydney in 2000. From what I saw (only a few feet from his fingers most of the night), you can believe the hype! His biggest influence, Stevie Ray Vaughan, comes through in his playing. Kenny was recruited by Joe for the second incarnation of G3 with Vai. |
Spinal Tap

Joe joined Spinal Tap on stage for a few numbers (Break Like The Wind and a jam) at their June 10th 2002 sold out show at the Warfield in San Francisco. Joe has also recorded with the band on their second album 'Break Like the Wind'. |
Steve Vai
Steve Vai is a true musical pioneer. Since having guitar lessons with Joe as teenagers, he has forged ahead to become the single most unique guitarist in the world today. He continues to get the call up from Joe for each G3 tour and has played with Joe on numerous other occasions, including the 1992 Guitar Legends concert in Seville, Spain.
I saw Steve play at the Enmore here in Sydney in July of 2004. He was totally awesome...the ultimate showman! |
Stevie Ray Vaughan

Arguably (and in my opinion) the greatest ever blues guitarist, Stevie Ray Vaughan erupted onto the Austin Texas blues scene in the early seventies and just continued to excel from there. From his debut album 'Texas Flood' through to his last full studio album, 1989's 'In Step', 'Little Stevie' left behind a legacy of the blues that I can't see being matched any time soon. The master's master! R.I.P. S.R.V. Stevie invited Joe to open for one of his shows on August 20, 1988 and had also appeared and played with Joe acoustically on MTV's Unplugged program. |
Joe Walsh

Most known for his long-time collaboration as guitarist for the hugely successful band 'The Eagles', Joe Walsh has also tasted success as a solo artist. Joe 'Walsh' played with Joe 'Satriani' at the 1992 'Guitar Legends' concert in Seville, Spain |
