David Mayor

I thought I would start off this section by featuring my personal guitar collection and bits and pieces. I have been playing guitar for about 8 years now and I play various styles and have many influences (the top three of which are Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani and Tommy Emmanuel).

My 1996 Fender USA '62 Reissue Stratocaster

This is a really fine instrument. I picked it up second hand in August 2003 from a USA vintage guitars shop. It is such a great player.

My 1995 Maton EM325C Acoustic Electric (with AP5Pickup)

This is a beautiful sounding instrument! I've owned it since new. It is an acoustic/electric with the patented Maton AP5 Pickup. I use size 13 gauge strings on this for a nicer tone (but this guitar definately doesn't need the assistance).

My 2002 Peavey EVH Wolfgangs

In March of 2002 I bought a brand new 2002 Peavey EVH Wolfgang Special electric guitar. It is gloss black with a Floyd Rose bridge/tremolo system and is just a rock monster!

I also (fortunately for me) found (on NYE 2002) a Wolfgang Standard, Archtop/Flametop that I couldn't refuse. It is tranparent green and has a real nice neck!

My Gear

Amp:
Marshall MG 80 RCD 80 Watt Combo
Pedals:
Jim Dunlop JH-1 Wah Wah (Jimi Hendrix)
Boss DS1 Distortion
Boss CH-1 Super Chorus
Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer
Ibanez DE7 Delay/Echo
MXR Phase 90
MXR Flanger
Gone But Not Forgotten:
2000 Fender 50's Classic Reissue Telecaster (Pictured below)

Ben Franklin's Ibanez

The proud owner of this cool Black Ibanez JS 100 Electric guitar is Ben Franklin. As you can tell by the photo, Ben is a big Satch fan.

"My rig consists of:
JS100 Black Guitar
Gold Squire Strat
Marshall AVT 2000 Amp
Dunlop Wah Wah"

"First got into Satch after hearing Satch Boogie and Surfin', and after that I started collecting his other albums. What sets him apart from the rest is the fact that his music is not just a showcase of him self, it has melody and even non guitarists can enjoy it. I saw him live at the Manchester Apollo earlier this year and it was a superb gig, never hit a wrong note! I hope I can say that my playing contains elements of his but you'd have to hear it to judge!!"

Thanks for sending in the photo Ben. Congrats on being the first fan to submit your photo to Satriani Science! I'm sure that deserves a prize of some sort!

Thanks Ben!

Adam Cox's Ibanez

Here is another fan from the UK with a black JS100 Ibanez (popular colour).

Adam thought it would be cool to put a shot of him with his JS100 up here.

Thanks for the shot Adam!

Jonathan's Jackson

Now this looks like a guitar with an attitude! Say hello to 'Quentin'. This is Jonathan's Jackson Electric guitar.

It has a pretty cool looking flamed top finish to it; and that shape!

Thanks for the shot Jonathan!

Garrett Thompson's Ibanez

Here is a fan from Dallas Texas in the USA. Garrett owns a transparent red Ibanez JS100. I'll let Garret tell you a little bit about his guitar setup and his interest in Joe's music.

Current Setup and Gear:
>Dimarzio Fred and PAF Pro Pick ups (JS1000/2000 specs)
>D'Addario Strings
>D'Addario Strap
-BOSS OD-20 Drive Zone Distortion Box
-Fender Ultimate Chorus DSP

I first heard of Satriani from a music teacher who had
great interest in instrumental rock. Then when I
bought the JS100 from a used guitar shop at the
beginning of my senior year, I began to seek out the
virtuoso. Lately, I replaced the standard Ibanez
Pick-ups with the pick-ups from the higher end models
i.e. the JS 1000 and JS2000.

Thanks Garrett!

JA Allen

JA Allen is a very HEAVY Joe Satriani Fan!

Included here is JA's:
Main Rig
Jackson 1993 Randy Rhoads Pro
2002 Ibanez Joe Satriani 2000
2000 Fender American Double Fat Strat
1994 Gibson/Epiphone 12 string

Thanks for sending in all of the great photos and gear info JA. You have some real impressive stuff!

Thanks JA!

Kevin Bell

Kevin certainly has some nice stuff. Here is a break down of what he has:

I banez Roadstar (1986 - bought in 87): Still plays great. Second Ibanez JS100TR (1994): Changed pickups for DiMarzios.
Ibanez JS1 (1990): Has been nickel plated. Curiously, the neck is stamped as a JS2 (chrome). Apparently some were stamped for JS2s but never used as the production run was so small, so they were re-stamped as JS1, but this one remains as a JS2! It plays SO much better than the JS100 (which is still a good guitar) but with all that metal on it, it weighs a ton compared to it!

Other kit:

Peavey Envoy 110 amp
Ibanez gt3 (multieffects)
Ibanez TM5
Boss DS1
Boss PS5
Dunlop Crybaby.

Thanks for sending in all of the great photos and gear info Kevin. There's no denying you are a big Satriani fan!

Thanks Kev!

Mike Shepherd

Mike Shepherd

I have 2 Guitars a Jackson JSX 94 and an Ibanez RG 570EX see attached photo's. The Jackson I bought in 1994 is still my favourite and rarely goes out of tune. The Ibanez is quite a light guitar in comparison to the Jackson and has a super wizard neck which really helps when you are trying some of the satriani stuff. Both have Floyd Rose Tremolos which are still the best in my opinion. I aslo use a KORG AX1500G signal modeling signal processor effects unit See photo. This gives most of the satriani sounds its the best effects unit I've ever used.

Thanks Mike!

Didier Agasse

I’m playing my “JS1 WH” since ’90, and this year came from the states with Ebay’s help, one of the 345’s models worldwide “JS6”. This is a mahogany body with fixed bridge. I’ve set her in 10-46 and it sounds really different than the JS1.

I’ve done a planning of the frets and set the mics since the pics, and she plays as beautiful as she is…

Yop !!! You’re right... I’m in love !!! lol

Thanks Didier!

Martyn Upton
