The novelty song "Yes, we have no bananas" was written in 1923 when Panama fungus disease ravaged banana crops in America. Only after billions of dollars worth of research was a resistant variety, the now well-known Cavendish banana, invented.

The same could now happen to Australia's banana industry as imported Panama disease, a new strain of which now can attack Cavendish bananas, ravages Northern Territory crops.

Yet, amazingly, there is still pressure to drop our quarantine regulations and import bananas from the Phillipines.

The horse-flu disaster that has caused millions in lost earnings for those involved in the industry finally made city people sit up and take notice as to what happens when strict quarantine procedures are slackened.

One Nation suggests that the banana industry that produces a useful product is slightly more important than the horse-racing racket.

Cavendish bananas are unusually susceptible to disease because they are genetically the same all over the world and it will be a case of "one out, all out". They are are so susceptible to disease there are even quarantine restrictions against moving plants between different parts of NSW, yet they want import bananas from the Phillipines.

Of course if our industry is hit that will be an excuse to import bananas to replace them and wipe out our farmers altogether, which is what the globalists want.

One Nation says stop all imports of any goods that threaten our Australian farmers, before we have to write a new song 'Yes, in Australia, we have no more primary industries".
